Potential
Hazards In your Home
Federal Pacific and Zinsco electrical
panels and circuit breakers are potentially hazardous.
They have a reputation for not
tripping/de-energizing or overheating which causes electrical
shock or fire hazards.
Federal Pacific/FPE
Federal pacific can be identified by Orange
on the circuit breaker handle, the letters F.P.E. or the words
Federal Pacific.
Federal Pacific electrical panels and
circuit breakers were installed in homes or businesses during
the 1960’s and 1970’s after which they were phased out or
discontinued.
These circuit breakers are notorious for
not tripping/de-energizing.
By not tripping/de-energizing during potentially
hazardous conditions which could possible cause a fire or an
electrical shock is what makes these electrical panels
dangerous.
Zinsco, GTE Sylvania
Zinsco electrical panels have rectangle
shaped circuit breakers that may have different colors on the
circuit breaker handles.
Zinsco electrical panels were installed in
homes and business during the 1960’s and 1970’s and were phased
out or discontinued.
Zinsco electrical panels are notorious for overheating which can
cause a fire or the circuit breakers not to operate properly.
When one or both situations occur it can be hazardous

This is the front and side view of a damaged F.P.E panel.
Damaged breakers like this are one of the main causes of
electrical fire. If they are older than twenty years they need
to be replaced.

This Zinsco Breaker has damage cause by arcing, which happens
when the breaker is not getting the proper contact in the
electrical panel. |
